The seat of Door, today center of the circle Sorrentino, the angle is situated to that street St. Caesarian form with Rate Plaza. The Seat derives its name from the fact that you/he/she had been erect near the most greater door of Sorrento near Wide of the Castle. You/he/she was turned into the jail after the abolition of the seats and subsequently meeting place to body of watch for the urban militia. The clock that him note on the principal façade goes up again to 1882, later “trentanove years of silence” the sorrentinis could feel again “to play the hours”. The first clock was installed under the bell tower of the Castle that was found there where now Rate Plaza is found and was one of the two public clocks. The clocks were very important for the life of the inhabitants of the place, in fact their sound guaranteed to everybody the alarm clock, the respect of the time to meet himself/herself/themselves for the business, the departure for Castellammare and for other harbors.
